President Donald Trump on Monday highlighted an apparent penchant of rioters in Los Angeles to spit on federal agents, National Guard, and law enforcement, warning that under his administration, those organizations would not stand for it.
"'If they spit, we will hit.' This is a statement from the President of the United States concerning the catastrophic Gavin Newscum inspired Riots going on in Los Angeles," Trump posted on Truth Social.
"The Insurrectionists have a tendency to spit in the face of the National Guardsmen/women, and others," he continued. "These Patriots are told to accept this, it’s just the way life runs. But not in the Trump Administration. IF THEY SPIT, WE WILL HIT, and I promise you they will be hit harder than they have ever been hit before. Such disrespect will not be tolerated!"
Trump made the remarks amid ongoing riots in Los Angeles that have seen violent participants wield Mexican flags and clash with law enforcement.
The riots followed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids on Home Depots in the area at the suggestion of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.
