Israeli cabinet expected to vote on ceasefire-hostage deal, Hamas says obstacles have been resolved


The Israeli cabinet is set to vote Friday on a long-awaited ceasefire-hostage deal, according to the country's Prime Minister’s Office. 

The deal was announced Wednesday in Qatar.

The 11 voting members of the security cabinet have already approved the deal with a simple majority vote, according to CNN.

The full, 33-member Israeli cabinet still must  to approve the agreement, with a vote set for 8:30 a.m. ET.

Late Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister’s office confirmed that a deal with Hamas to release the hostages held in Gaza. 

The agreement is expect to take effect Sunday and if completed would lead to the phased release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, CNN also reports.
