Israeli war cabinet member's party moves to dissolve the Knesset in bid for early election

Israel's National Unity Party, the same political party as that of Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz, proposed holding a vote to dissolve the Knesset, Israel's parliament, in an attempt to hold elections early.

The decision comes after Gantz threatened to quit the war cabinet earlier this month if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not agree to a plan for after the Gaza war by June 8, according to Reuters.

Gantz's centrist bloc broke up earlier this year, leaving it without enough seats to take down the current coalition.

The proposal bring elections by October, but Axios reported that it appears that the early elections are unlikely to happen for now.
