A judge blocked the sale of Infowars to the satirical news publication The Onion on Tuesday night.
The Onion had won the website at auction last month with the support of the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook mass shooting. Those families won a $1.4 billion defamation lawsuit against Alex Jones, founder of Infowars.
Judge Christopher M. Lopez directed a court-appointed trustee, Christopher Murray, to draft an alternative resolution, according to the New York Times.
After the ruling, Ben Collins, chief executive of The Onion’s parent company Global Tetrahedron, said the company would “continue to seek a resolution that helps the Sandy Hook families receive a positive outcome for the horror they endured.”
