Judge temporarily blocks Trump administration from ending Biden-era migrant program

A federal judge in Massachusetts has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from immediately revoking deportation protections and work permits for hundreds-of-thousands of migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

The migrants entered the U.S. legally under a Biden-era program, according to CBS News

The ruling was made on Monday by U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani, allowing the migrants to remain in the U.S., where they could obtain authorization to legally work or apply for adjustment of status.

The ruling also temporarily bars the Department of Homeland Security from eliminating such immigration status as part of the federal government’s effort to shut down the program on April 24, The Hill newspaper reports
