The Justice Department has proposed forcing Google to sell its Chrome browser as a way to breakup its monopoly on internet search services.
The proposals, released on Thursday, follows a federal judge's ruling in August that concluded Google has an illegal monopoly on Internet search services.
The proposal, which was filed in a Washington federal court, includes forcing the Chrome browser sale as well as a five-year ban on Google re-entering the browser market.
The proposal also calls for a block on Google paying third parties such as Apple to offer Google as the default search engine on their products as well as divesting from the Android mobile operating system if the initial proposals do not work as intended.
