Legal expert says Biden's reform proposals for SCOTUS would make court more political

Senior Legal Fellow at the Heritage Foundation Hans von Spakovsky says President Joe Biden's proposed reform changes to the U.S. Supreme Court would result in the court becoming more political.

"We would have more nominations [and] there would be more fights," Spakovsky said on the Tuesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.

"Because every time there was a decision that the left didn't like, the next time a nominee came up, they would be working hard to get somebody who would overturn that decision," he continued.

Some of Biden's proposed reforms include new ethics standards for the justices and 18-year term limits.

Spakovsky said that it was hypocritical of Biden to bring up these potential reforms now because when more liberal justices like Ruth Bader Ginsburg were on the court, he didn't bring it up.

"In fact, when he was a senator, he [Biden] was very much against term limits on judges," Spakovsky said.
