Former Florida GOP Congressman Matt Gaetz has joined Cameo, a video service in which public figures get paid to deliver personalized video messages to fans.
Following Gaetz's being named as President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for attorney general in his new administration, he gave up his seat in Congress to focus on the confirmation process, but ultimately decided to withdraw his name from consideration. Shortly thereafter, he created an account on Cameo.
Former Republican Rep. George Santos also joined Cameo after he was expelled from the House in 2023 following his guilty plea to two federal counts, wire fraud and aggravated identify theft.
On Thursday, Gaetz withdrew his name after a wave of negative publicity and the apparent realization that he was probably not going to be confirmed by the Senate. Former Florida GOP Attorney General Pam Bondi was appointed after Gaetz withdrew.
“I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress,” Gaetz said during an interview with Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk.
