Merchan cancels Trump sentencing without explanation in NY 'hush money' case: report

Donald Trump's sentencing, scheduled for Nov. 26, has been adjourned with no explanation by the judge in his New York 'hush money' case.

Judge Juan Merchan is still considering how to proceed with sentencing given that Trump is now the president-elect and is preparing to take office in January.

The sentencing had already faced a delay from the judge as he considers whether to toss the charges. Merchan is also expected to decide whether to throw out the conviction in light of the Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity.

The move, reported by Bloomberg, came the same day Manhattan prosecutors under District Attorney Alvin Bragg are set to tell Merchan whether they believe the case should move to sentencing considering Trump's new status.

Trump was earlier found guilty of 34 counts of business records fraud in the state trial for allegedly covering up payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
