Boxing superstar Mike Tyson on Thursday night slapped challenger Jake Paul in the face during a staredown after the final weigh-in before Friday night's match.
Tyson and Paul are expected to square off during a Netflix special on Friday. The exchange occurred after Paul got close to Tyson following the weigh-in, prompting the boxing giant to slap the 27-year-old.
Paul did not react to the slap at the time, but claimed the fight was "personal now" after Tyson left the stage. He also claimed that he did not feel the slap, but that Tyson "must die," according to USA Today.
The moment was unusual for Tyson, who has been calm around his younger opponent until the incident. Paul has mocked Tyson before, even referring to him as "boring" during a news conference teasing the fight on Wednesday, but Tyson did not respond to the bait, per Fox News.
Tyson will be fighting out of the red corner on Friday night, and weighs in at 228.4 pounds. Paul will fight from the blue corner of the ring and enters the fight at 227.2 pounds.
