Move over $1.50 hotdogs: Costco offers weight-loss prescriptions

Costco products include everything from $1.50 hotdogs, cheap gas, bulk food and caskets, and now the wholesale store's latest offering is a medical weight loss subscription.

Through a partnership with direct-to-consumer healthcare marketplace Sesame, Costco will begin offering weight loss programs for as little as $179 per subscription period, or about $60 a month, Sesame announced Tuesday. Non-Costco members will be able to join the program for as low as $195 per subscription period.

Costco already partners with Sesame for outpatient services starting at $29 for a virtual primary care visit, and the companies decided to expand their offerings after receiving numerous inquiries about weight-loss programs, per CNN

Although Sesame is touting the plan as the nation's "most affordable weight loss program," the price does not include medication or lab work. Costco currently offers Wegovy, one of the most popular weight loss drugs, for about $1,500 without insurance.
