Rasmussen signals majority of voters do not want Trump seeking third term

Pollster Scott Rasmussen on Tuesday shared that a poll he conducted with the Napolitan News Service found that the majority of voters do not believe President Donald Trump should seek a third term in 2028.

The poll, which was conducted last week from April 2-3, found that just 28% supported the president seeking a third term, with 18% strongly in favor. Approximately two-thirds (66%) were opposed, including  56% who are Strongly Opposed.

It was not clear how many people were polled, nor the margin of error.

Trump has teased that there are ways in which he could legally seek a third term, but the 22nd Amendment states: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."
