Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., is planning to introduce a resolution condemning the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant applications for Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top Israeli officials such as Yoav Gallant, the Israeli Minister of Defence.
The draft of the resolution also "reiterates the U.S.'s unwavering support for the State of Israel and its right to defend itself."
It also reaffirms that the U.S. is "not a party to the Rome Statute and does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court."
Biggs' office noted that the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court treaty established the ICC in 1998. Then-President Clinton had signed the statute but did not formally submit the treaty to the U.S. Senate for official ratification.
