Former President Donald Trump on Friday fumed over a Harris campaign ad claiming in vitro fertilization (IVF) was banned due to him, asserting that he supports access to IVF.
"Comrade Kamala Harris just put up an Ad saying that I.V.F. was banned in certain areas because of me," Trump posted on Truth Social. "That is another LIE, just like her working at McDonald’s was a LIE! I have been totally supportive of I.V.F., right from the beginning, and so has the Republican Party!"
Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democrats have seized on a court ruling in Alabama earlier this year that raised uncertainty for the legality of the practice, though the state legislature subsequently passed a law protecting IVF providers.
Trump, for his part, had urged the legislature to act in the wake of the ruling, insisting that the vast majority of Americans support continued IVF access.
Major Christian denominations, including the Roman Catholic Church and the Southern Baptist Convention, oppose IVF.
