Trump says Harris would be 'easier' opponent than Biden, willing to debate her more than once

Former President Donald Trump, the 2024 GOP presidential nominee, said Tuesday that he is willing to do more than one debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, assuming she wins the Democratic nomination for president.

"She is not the candidate they should have. You know it, I know it, we all know it," Trump said during a briefing with reporters on Tuesday when asked if he is committed to debating Harris.

"I don't like the idea of ABC [News]. I would be willing to do more than one debate actually," he also said, referring to the next debate in September hosted by ABC News that Trump and Biden had agreed to do.

Trump described Harris as an "easier" opponent than Biden because "he was slightly more mainstream but not much."

The former president noted that Harris "never made it to Iowa" in the 2020 Democratic primary.

"If she campaigns the way she campaigned then, I suspect she won't be that tough," he said.

Trump said he hasn't yet agreed to the terms of a debate yet with Harris.

"I want to debate her and she will be no different because they have the same policies," he said. “I think if you’re in the Democratic nominee or Republican nominee, you really have an obligation to debate."

Trump also said he plans to take as many trips as necessary to the southern border. He slammed Harris' record as Biden's border czar.

"She's the same as Biden but much more radical," he said. "She's far more radical than he is. She wants open borders."
