Trump to return to Butler, PA for rally after assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump on Friday announced that he would return to Butler, Penn., where he sustained a gunshot wound to the ear as part of assassination attempt while hosting a rally earlier this month.

"I WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL RALLY, HONORING THE SOUL OF OUR BELOVED FIREFIGHTING HERO, COREY, AND THOSE BRAVE PATRIOTS INJURED TWO WEEKS AGO. WHAT A DAY IT WILL BE — FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS," he announced on Truth Social.

The assassination attempt saw Thomas Matthew Crooks open fire from a nearby rooftop, grazing Trump in the ear and killing rallygoer Corey Comperatore, while injuring several more. Trump previously paid tribute to Comperatore during his speech at the Republican National Convention.

Crooks was killed during the incident.

Earlier this week, the House of Representatives voted unanimously to establish a task force to investigate the assassination attempt.
