UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot in front of a hotel in Manhattan, New York and died at the hospital Wednesday morning. 

Sources told local media that the shooting happened right before 7 a.m. near a hotel on 54th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.

He was rushed to Mt Sinai Hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead, according to the New York Post.

There have been no arrests made and there is an ongoing investigation. 

Thompson became the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in 2021 and joined UnitedHealth Group in 2004.
