Vast majority of Maine voters don't want Collins to serve another Senate term

The vast majority of Maine voters want to see Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, retire from the Senate rather than seek another term, according to the results of a new poll.

She was first elected as a senator in 1996. Collins, 72, has gained a reputation as a moderate after going against her party on certain issues.

According to the University of New Hampshire’s Survey Center poll results, 71% of Mainers said Collin should not get another term while 21% said she should.

The number against another Collins term was 84% for Democrats, 67% for independents and 57% for Republicans.

There is currently not a limit on how many 6-year terms senators can serve. Collins' current term is up in 2026.
