CBS News Makes It Sound Like Abandoned Astronauts Were On Vacation
Reporting on Elon Musk’s SpaceX mission to rescue the two astronauts stranded on the ISS, CBS News made it sound like they have been on an extended holiday.
This X post linking to a story notes that NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have had a “9 month stay in space.”

Then within the story itself, CBS states “NASA’s next International Space Station crew blasted off Friday, finally clearing the way for Starliner astronauts Barry ‘Butch’ Wilmore and Sunita Williams to be ferried home next week by two other outgoing station crew members, finally closing out an extended space odyssey.”
The Biden administration, so worried about giving Elon Musk a win, left them stranded in space for over half a year, and CBS News calls it a "stay." You know, like a vacation or something. https://t.co/b0yRWYdBcr

The pair were not inter-railing around Europe, they were left in space by the Biden administration on purpose after the Boeing Starliner capsule they travelled in was deemed unsafe for return.
A “stay in space.” ??

They’ve been stranded there for months.
You all are beyond parody.
Biden stranded these people in outer space. He didn’t send them to a quaint countryside bed and breakfast. Geez. https://t.co/9GVhKYxoUD

They were supposed to be in space eight days, and could have been brought back months ago by Musk, but the Biden administration refused his offer of help, presumably because he had endorsed Trump.
You don’t hate the media enough.

“Stay.”

That’s nice. What a lovely “stay.”
“WWII soldiers came to briefly fight Germany but many ended up with an extended STAY in lovely green fields around Europe…”
Spin spin, spin spin.
It’s surprising enough that they’re covering the story at all given how much vitriol they have for Musk.
The ISS now offers air b-n-b?

"A stay" is an odd turn of phrase to use when astronauts have been abandoned due to a flawed Boeing spacecraft stranding them there and President Biden leaving them there until it was someone else's problem.
This is not journalism, it's activism.
FYI Biden even joked about stranding them pic.twitter.com/Z6TfWO1w9s

This headline makes it sound like they were just hanging out in some swanky Jetsons space hotel https://t.co/tiw123LUyb
