CNN Correspondent Complains There Are No Black People in Argentina
A CNN correspondent faced ridicule after complaining that he didn’t see any black people in Argentina, with some joking that there aren’t many Argentineans in Cameroon either.
“I have spent a week in Argentina and I didn’t see a single black person,” said Larry Madowo, who is a host of African Voices on CNN International.
“Not walking on the streets of Buenos Aires, not in a restaurant, nowhere!” he added.
“The people are super nice, but where are the black people? Ya’ll come visit,” said Madowo.

Unlike many other white countries, Argentina hasn’t been subsumed by mass migration, meaning its demographics remain largely homogenous, with a black population of just 0.7 per cent.
One respondent informed Madowo that there isn’t a huge amount of black people in Argentina, “Because they are a country, not a Disney movie.”

“Same way u would walk in the street of many African nations and you won’t see a white person , why do black people always feel this victim mentality? “why must we be always like this?” commented another.

“I haven’t seen any white guys in Angola, Nigeria, Ghana…. So? What? Maybe you are in the wrong place my dear,” remarked another.

Madowo reacted by predictably calling his detractors “racist”.
A bunch of racists have found this post and are reacting to it without watching, or understanding, the video

During the 2022 World Cup, the Washington Post faced similar scorn for publishing an article asking, “Why doesn’t Argentina have more black players in the World Cup?”

Il Washington Post si chiede perché nella nazionale argentina non ci siano giocatori di colore..

The writer of the piece, Erika Denise Edwards, an associate professor at the University of Texas at El Paso, invited people to read about, “A history of Black erasure in Argentina!!”
The newspaper subsequently issued a correction noting that an “editing error” had occurred when Edwards had claimed there were more black people in Argentina than was actually the case.
