Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz says sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was killed as part of a ‘foreign operation’, but refused to divulge which government was responsible for his death.
Gaetz made the comments during an appearance on Benny Johnson’s show.
In August 2019, Epstein was found unresponsive in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City after supposedly committing suicide by hanging.
Multiple violations of normal jail procedures allied with the convenient failure of two cameras in front of Epstein’s cell prompted conspiracy theories suggesting Epstein was murdered in order to keep his high profile client list secret.
At the time, Attorney General William Barr described Epstein’s death as “a perfect storm of screw-ups,” but Gaetz said Barr should be called to testify because “there’s no way the story you’re getting is the real story there, no freakin’ way and Bill Barr knows it.”

“I actually think that on Epstein, it was a foreign government that took him out,” said Gaetz, adding, “I don’t think it was a domestic enterprise.”
While Gaetz refused to name the exact government involved, he asserted that Epstein’s death was “government sponsored” and occurred “in concert” with officials within the United States government.
“But not at some low level guard getting bribed kind of way, at a state to state level,” noted the Congressman, adding that the hit was kept under wraps by authorities in order to protect the geopolitical order and things like weapons system deals.
When asked if he had evidence to back up his claim, Gaetz said he was just “positing it as a theory.”
Epstein data released earlier this year showed that one victim was used to “obtain potential blackmail information” on “prominent American politicians” and other world leaders who were involved with the sex trafficker.
The goal of the operation was to put powerful people in compromising positions and then use that information against them.
Numerous individuals have claimed that Epstein was likely hired by Israeli intelligence through his connection with Robert Maxwell to conduct compromat on behalf of Mossad.
According to former Israeli spy Ari Ben-Menashe, Epstein ran a “complex intelligence operation” at the behest of Mossad and his primary role became “blackmailing American and other political figures.”
Documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal in 2023 confirmed that former Israeli Prime Minister and head of Israeli Military Intelligence Ehud Barak visited Jeffrey Epstein’s New York City apartment dozens of times between 2013 and 2017.
