Gunman Was Seen With Rangefinder by Secret Service Agents Before Shooting

Snipers were stationed inside the very building from where Thomas Crooks launched the attack.

Thomas Crooks was seen by Secret Service agents with a rangefinder before he disappeared and returned to the scene with a backpack, while snipers were also stationed inside the same building from where the gunman shot at Trump, according to a report by CBS News.

Questions are continuing to swirl as to why Crooks was not stopped earlier despite being seen acting suspiciously well before he launched the attempted assassination.

According to a report by CBS News’ Anna Schecter based on law enforcement sources, three snipers were stationed inside the American Glass Research building “looking out windows toward the Trump rally.”

“One of the snipers inside saw Thomas Matthew Crooks outside and looking up at the roof, observing the building and disappearing,” reports the news network.

“Crooks came back, sat down and looked at his phone. At that point, one of the snipers took a picture of him. Crooks took out a rangefinder and the sniper radioed to the command post. Crooks disappeared again and then came back a third time with a backpack. The snipers called in with information that he had a backpack and said he was walking towards the back of the building.”

By the time officers had called for backup, Crooks was already on top of the building, having climbed up there by means of an air conditioning unit, and was positioning himself for the attack.

State Police began rushing to the scene, but by the time they got there Crooks had already been killed.

“Questions remain about HOW this was possible that several law enforcement officers had eyes on the shooter before and reported his behavior… yet this still happened,” Schecter posted on X.

As we highlighted yesterday, a police officer noticed gunman Thomas Crooks acting suspiciously on a roof and reported him nearly 30 minutes before he shot at Donald Trump.

Investigators are still trying to ascertain how Crooks got roof access despite the heavy security presence around the building.

“The building where gunman Thomas Crooks scrambled onto the roof and opened fire was the staging area for the local police tactical team doing overwatch of the crowd,” reported ABC News.
