Jack Black Apologises For ‘Joke’ About Trump Assassination Attempt, Cancels Tour

Puts “future creative plans” on hold after backlash

Jack Black has issued a grovelling apology after his bandmate expressed a wish during a show that the shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks had not missed Donald Trump this past weekend.

As we highlighted, Black and his band Tenacious D were on tour in Australia when the incident happened.

It was Kyle Gass that made the comment “Don’t miss Trump next time,” when asked by Black to make a birthday wish.

Black issued a statement following huge backlash.

He wrote “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.”

He continued, “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

The announcement came after an Australian Senator called for the pair to have their visas revoked and to be deported.

The attempt on Trump’s life appears to have resulted in a shift of attitude, with some on the left calling for divisive rhetoric to be toned down, and the likes of MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski being yanked off the air altogether by the network.

The pair threatened to quit if it happens again.
