RFK Voters More Likely to Back Trump Than Harris Ahead of Likely Endorsement
Robert F Kennedy Jr voters are more likely to back Donald Trump than Kamala Harris ahead of an announcement today where RFK is expected to endorse Trump.
Kennedy is set to give a speech at 2pm EST in Phoenix, Arizona, while Trump also has an event at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale later in the afternoon, prompting speculation that the two could appear together.
Late last night, RFK filed to withdraw his name from Arizona’s Nov. 5 ballot.
With Kennedy currently drawing the support of around 5 per cent of voters nationwide (although that number has been higher in recent weeks), his expected endorsement of Trump could be an election game changer.
With the race between Trump and Harris being on a knife edge, Trump is likely to absorb more votes from RFK than Kamala could hope to attract.
“A poll by the Wall Street Journal found that around half of RFK Jr voters would be likely to swing towards Trump, while around a quarter would go to Ms Harris,” reports the Telegraph.
However, that’s based on RFK merely dropping out, if he backs Trump, the number of voters absorbed by Trump could be even higher.
Polls show Trump is more popular with Kennedy voters than Kamala Harris.
That’s partly because Trump has vowed to give RFK a position in his cabinet, while the Harris campaign refused to even entertain the possibility when Kennedy reached out to her.
As we previously highlighted, Nicole Shanahan, RFK’s running mate, first hinted at Kennedy dropping out earlier this week.
“There’s two options that we’re looking at and one is staying in, forming that new party but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Tim Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump, or we draw somehow more votes from Trump,” Ms Shanahan told the Impact Theory podcast.
Trump’s running mate JD Vance also welcomed the possibility of RFK joining forces with Trump.
“I think it’s a great endorsement for the president to have,” Mr Vance told CBS. “I don’t know if it’s actually going to happen, but I’d certainly welcome it and encourage RFK to join the team.”
