Senator: Don’t Trust The FBI On Trump Assassination Investigation
Senator Ron Johnson, who chairs the committee overseeing the investigation into the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, has warned that the FBI cannot be trusted.
Johnson referred to testimony given Tuesday by FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate who claimed that the feds have discovered past comments posted by Thomas Matthew Crooks on social media expressing “anti-immigration” sentiments.
“Some of these comments, if ultimately attributable to the shooter, appear to reflect anti-Semitic and anti-immigration themes to espouse political violence and are described as extreme in nature,” Abbate claimed.

Appearing on Fox News, Johnson proclaimed “What am I missing? You know I do not trust the FBI do this investigation, honestly.”
“I caught that contradiction as well,” Johnson continued, adding “I thought I heard him say, initially, anti-immigrant, and then you said another one was pro-immigrant. That’s the reason I asked the question at the very end of my questioning is, they say they’re investigating this as an assassination attempt and also as domestic terrorism.”
“It was obviously an assassination attempt. Why are you classifying as domestic terrorism?” Johnson further noted.
“Again, my concern is the way this Biden administration has basically accused half of America being potential domestic terrorists,” the Senator continued, adding “In his testimony, he’s talking about [the posts] as anti-immigrant. Again, they’re trying to paint this as a MAGA Republican trying to take out, I guess, the MAGA President. It makes no sense whatsoever, but that’s why you can’t trust the FBI.”
Watch:
Andrew Torba, founder of Gab, who says Crooks had an account on the platform, claimed the FBI claims are not consistent with posts made by Crooks that he has seen which were pro immigration.
As we previously highlighted, Senator Johnson, the ranking member on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, has floated the idea that there was more than one shooter.
Johnson has also stated that his findings include a revelation that the Secret Service did not attend a security briefing given to local SWAT and sniper teams on the morning of July 13.
Johnson has further revealed that local law enforcement wasn’t even on the same security radio channel as the Secret Service, and the Sniper and Swat teams weren’t on the same channels as patrol officers, or Secret Service either.
“We can’t trust the FBI and Secret Service to do an honest and open, transparent investigation. That’s just a very sad fact. We’ve got to rely on other sources,” Johnson urged.
As we noted yesterday, Rep. Cory Mills, a former Army sniper, has announced he will be conducting a “parallel independent investigation” into the attempted assassination after Speaker Mike Johnson assembled a task force to probe the Butler shooting without including either Mills or Rep. Eli Crane, also a former sniper.
