Watch: Putin Warns Trump Is Not Safe From Assassination Attempts

Says Democrats are worse than gangsters

During a press conference, Russian leader Vladimir Putin warned that US president-elect Trump is still not safe from assassination attempts, and accused Democrats of being worse than gangsters.

Putin called Trump “a smart and experienced person,” and noted that “he has gone through quite an ordeal of fighting to reclaim the Oval Office,” adding that Trump will likely “find a solution” to the conflict in Ukraine.

Putin said he has been “amazed” by the “absolutely uncivilized means used against Trump, all the way up to the assassination attempts, numerous assassination attempts.”

“I think he’s not safe even now,” Putin continued, adding “The history of the United States has known many cases, but I think President Trump is a smart person and a cautious one, I hope.”

The Russian premier further explained that “what amazed me most, that in fighting him, not only Trump was subjected to humiliating court procedures, accusations, and so on. But his family was attacked as well. His children were attacked.”

“Gangsters don’t do this in Russia. When criminal gangs fight, they don’t touch children and women. It’s men who fight among themselves,” Putin exclaimed.

Referring to Trump’s Democratic opposition, Putin added “those guys stooped as low as that. I think this is so… This looks so bad that it only reaffirms, reconfirms how low the political system of the United States has fallen.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine appear to be progressing, with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky suggesting he would temporarily cede Ukrainian territory to Russia in exchange for joining Nato.

This is reported to be one strategy Trump has considered, but it remains to be seen how Russia and Putin will respond, having previously stated that Ukraine joining NATO is a red line not to be crossed.

In an interview with Sky News, Zelensky said Nato membership would have to be offered to unoccupied parts of the country in order to end the “hot phase” of the war.

Zelensky remarked of Trump, “we have to work with the new president” in order to “have the biggest supporter”.

“I want to work with him directly because there are different voices from people around him. And that’s why we need not to allow anybody around to destroy our communication,” he continued, adding “We have to try to find the new model. I want to share with him ideas and I want to hear from him.”
