Volodymyr Zelensky has posted an obsequious plea stating that he’s committed to seeking peace following President Trump’s announcement that the US will halt all military aid to Ukraine.
Zelensky had said that he believes the war with Russia will last ” a long time,” following the spat he initiated with Trump and Vice President Vance in the White House last week.
Trump said Monday that he has had enough of Zelensky stubbornly refusing to accept his only real option is to negotiate a peace agreement with Russia.
Referring to Zelensky’s comments, Trump noted “This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!”
“It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S.” Trump added in the Truth Social post.
He concluded, “Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?”
No sooner than it was announced that the aid will be cut off, Zelensky suddenly announced that he’s now ready to sign the minerals agreement that was supposed to be done last week “in any time and in any convenient format.”
Zelensky’s full statement to X reads as follows:
None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.
I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace.
We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.
We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this.
Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive.
Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively.
I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace.

Why didn’t he say this to Trump a few days ago?
As we noted earlier, Trump isn’t going to move forward with the minerals deal with Ukraine until Zelenskyy explicitly publicly apologises, according to insiders who spoke to Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy.
You folded much faster than I expected.

This was almost as fast as the President of Colombia folded.

Art of the deal. You aren’t acting so tough when President Trump completely cuts off your aid.
— aka (@akafaceUS) March 4, 2025
Why did you say war with Russia would not end for a long time then?
— AlphaFo𝕏 (@Alphafox78) March 4, 2025
Why is Zelensky still trying to negotiate in public? You need to discuss it with the @POTUS in private. You aren't going to get your way by trying to negotiate in the town square.

You shouldn’t have fallen for the promises of the left, especially the likes of @ChrisMurphyCT Their days are over. You are dealing with a real leader now. Not with Biden’s handlers. 🤦🏻♀️

If you truly want peace, then you know what you have to do: resign and give Ukrainians their freedom and democracy back.
— Gabe (@GabeZZOZZ) March 4, 2025
I don't see an actual apology to President Trump and vice president Vance.
— Paul Brookes (@brookesyff) March 4, 2025
So, you still didn't apologize for your tamper tantrum.

I say you have to reissue a statement to include the words "I apologize"
