Jennifer Klein, director of the White House Gender Policy Council (GPC), made the false claims during a June 24 virtual press briefing on the second anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's overturn of the Roe v. Wade abortion ruling. Journalist Tommy Christopher from Mediaite asked Klein to address a "pair of false attacks on abortion," framing his question from a pro-abortion perspective.
"[The] first one is … that [former President] Donald Trump keeps saying that Democrats believe in aborting the child after birth – murdering children after they're born, based on something [former Virginia Gov.] Ralph Northam said a few years ago," Christoper said. "And then there's another one where they say Democrats support abortion up to the ninth month because there's no specific number of weeks in the viability framework."
She responded: "First and foremost, the president and the vice president do not support abortion up until the time of birth. Nor do they support abortion after birth – in fact, that's not abortion."
"Second of all, you know – both the president [and] vice president, this entire administration has been quite clear and unequivocal that we support restoring the protections of [Roe v. Wade] in federal law, and we're not proposing something new."
The GPC director went on to label both points Christopher brought up as "really a blatant effort to distract from the extremist agenda" Republicans supposedly hold. The Mediaite journalist did not follow up by asking Klein to produce an example of an abortion restriction which Biden or Harris would accept, according to an audio clip and transcript the outlet provided to LifeSiteNews.

Baby killers Biden and Harris SILENT on abortion limits they would accept
Despite Klein's answers to the Mediaite journalist, the top two Democrats have consistently rejected opportunities to endorse any abortion limits they would accept – including protections for fully-born babies. Instead, they have promoted policies that would render infanticide effectively unlimited. LifeSiteNews shared several instances of Biden and Harris doing so (or not doing so).
Throughout his presidency, the former vice president has demanded Congress pass legislation to codify a "right" to abortion in federal law. He specifically endorsed the so-called Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), which would forbid states from passing any law that not only prohibits abortion but would be "reasonably likely to delay or deter" or "indirectly" raise the cost of abortions.
While the WHPA would ostensibly let abortion be restricted after fetal viability on paper, in practice it gives abortionists the power to decide whether a post-viability abortion is "necessary" for a mother's "health." LifeSiteNews pointed out: "A similar loophole in [Roe v. Wade] and its companion ruling Doe v. Bolton renders Klein's insistence that the White House only wants to restore Roe unresponsive to the charge."
Meanwhile, Harris has refused in interviews to name a point at which she would no longer support legal abortion. In a January interview with Laura Coates of the fake news network CNN, she has even blamed Trump for the overturn of the Roe v. Wade ruling after 49 years. (Related: Pro-abortion VP Kamala Harris blames Trump for Roe v. Wade overturn.)
"[Trump] is proud that women have been deprived of fundamental freedoms to make decisions about their own body. [He is also] proud that doctors are being penalized and criminalized for providing health care … [and] that women are silently suffering because they don't have access to the health care they need," the vice president said at the time. "So, let's understand that the stakes are so very high."
It's not just Democrats in the executive branch that's promoting abortion, according to LifeSiteNews, as Democrats in Congress have overwhelmingly voted against two bills that protect the unborn – the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
The first proposal seeks to ban elective abortions after five months, with exceptions for rape, incest and medical emergencies. Meanwhile, the second proposal would require abortionists to transfer infants who survive abortions to hospitals for basic medical care.
"Democrats are banking heavily on pro-abortion fear driving enough favorable turnout to win them the 2024 elections," LifeSiteNews concluded.
