Actor Julien Arnold Dies Suddenly After On-Stage Medical Emergency


Actor Julien Arnold died suddenly and unexpectedly after suffering a medical emergency while performing in A Christmas Carol at Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre in Canada.

The 60-year-old collapsed mid-performance, shocking both the cast and audience. Paramedics were called to the scene at 8:28 p.m. and attempted to revive him, but Arnold was pronounced dead inside the theater. The cause of death has been announced.

Arnold was playing multiple roles in the festive production, including Marley, Mr. Fezziwig, and Banjo, showcasing his talent and versatility as part of the ensemble.

The Citadel Theatre’s executive director Jessie van Rijn and artistic director Daryl Cloran released a statement mourning Arnold’s passing:

“His presence brought joy, heart, and depth to every role, and his artistic contributions—and big hugs—will be deeply missed.”

A beloved figure in Edmonton’s theater community, Arnold’s career spanned decades. He grew up in Edmonton and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta in 1989. Later, he returned to complete a Master of Fine Arts in Directing in 2006.

In the wake of his passing, loved ones and fans have come together to raise nearly $40,000 to support his partner, Satanove, during this difficult time.

Arnold’s untimely death has left a profound void in the arts community, where his talent, generosity, and spirit will be fondly remembered.
