It was noticed that along with removing ‘she/her’ from her bio, AOC also changed her moniker from the genderless ‘Representative’ to ‘Congresswoman’
Critics have branded her a hypocrite, and noted that just two years ago AOC apologized to followers for not having pronouns in her Instagram bio.
RT reports: Conservative pundits have now accused the progressive Democrat of hypocrisy and only pretending to embrace woke gender trends.
Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, an avid critic of Ocasio-Cortez, has demanded that she explain her decision after “shoving gender lies and insane ideology down people’s throats for years.”
Former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines has also blasted the Democrat, writing on social media that politicians such as Ocasio-Cortez will “pretend they never embraced (or even celebrated) the insanity.” Gaines has been an outspoken critic of trans athletes being included in women’s sports and has repeatedly singled out Ocasio-Cortez for her positions on such issues.
“We’re winning and it’s glorious,” Gaines wrote, as many Trump supporters have hailed the Republican candidate’s election victory as a sign of the end for the era of ‘woke’ pandering.
Conservative commentator Paul Szypula has also suggested that Ocasio-Cortez’s removal of her pronouns from her description was tied to the “massive exodus from the Democrat Party by Hispanic voters,” many of whom have “conservative values and aren’t thrilled with gender ideology.”
Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez, who has yet to respond to the backlash, was re-elected last week to serve a fourth term in Congress.
