RFK Jr Terminates Moderna’s $766 Million Bird Flu Vaccine Contract Citing ‘Serious Health Concerns’

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has terminated a $766 million contract with Moderna intended for the development of an mRNA-based H5N1 bird flu vaccine.

While Big Pharma and mainstream media are in uproar about the cancellation, this move underscores Kennedy’s commitment to ensuring vaccine safety, fiscal responsibility, and a diversified approach to pandemic preparedness.

Kennedy’s decision reflects a cautious approach toward the rapid deployment of mRNA vaccines. Despite positive interim results from Moderna’s early-stage clinical trials involving 300 adults, the HHS cited concerns about the safety, integrity, and adequacy of current testing for mRNA technology.

This aligns with Kennedy’s broader stance on the need for comprehensive evaluation of new medical technologies before widespread implementation.

The cancellation also highlights a focus on prudent allocation of federal funds.

Moderna has reported significant financial losses in recent years, including $4.7 billion in 2023 and $3.6 billion in 2024, with projections of a $3.9 billion loss in 2025.

By reassessing substantial investments, Kennedy demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that taxpayer dollars are directed toward initiatives with proven efficacy and safety.

While mRNA technology remains the platform of choice for Big Pharma’s vaccine development, Kennedy’s decision emphasizes the importance of demanding safety and efficiency standards, not to mention multiple strategies in combating potential pandemics.

By not relying solely on one technological platform, the HHS aims to foster a more resilient and adaptable public health infrastructure capable of addressing various threats.
