CNN FREAKS OUT Over Elon Musk Potentially Buying MSNBC

It was bound to happen. Not a month has passed since the presidential election, but the Regime Media are back to pushing breathless variants of their failed “threat to democracy” narratives. This time, in regard to speculation that Elon Musk may purchase MSNBC.

Watch as (who else?) Brian Stelter comes on CNN and gives a masterclass in Regime Media projection:

KAYLA TAUSCHE: But elaborate on that potential joke- he used some of the same phrasing that he used a few years ago, when he ended up actually buying Twitter, when he said, “how much is it?” just fairly casually.

BRIAN STELTER: Yes.

TAUSCHE: I mean, it would seem that yes, there is a fair amount of trolling going on right now, but at the same time, Comcast is cleaving off a part of the business that could potentially be an affordable acquisition. Do you think that there's- there's any possibility that it's more than a joke?

STELTER: Well, some are taking it- some inside MSNBC are taking Musk's comments seriously, whether he's trolling or not. There is a serious undercurrent to this, and it is the following: in some countries where we've seen democratic backsliding, where some oppositional media outlets have been captured by the government- a process known as media capture. This is exactly what happens. A ally of the leader, like Musk, comes in and buys a media outlet that is viewed as oppositional and then he turns the content and makes it more friendly to the person in power. That has happened before in other countries. That's part of the concern when, even if Elon Musk is just joking, that's part of the concern here when it comes to MSNBC. But at the moment, this spinoff that Comcast is doing will take at least a year to complete. There's no immediate sale or any of that, I'm told, that is planned. But the idea that Musk talks about it, he likes to say the most ironic outcome is the most likely. And in this case, it would be pretty ironic if he controlled MSNBC.

TAUSCHE: Yeah, we still have more than a year of tea leaf reading to do. Brian. We appreciate you helping us do it on this Sunday evening. Thank you for joining us. We appreciate it.

STELTER: Thanks.

The MSNBC speculation capped off a segment focused on all things Musk: there was mention of the Wall Street Journal reporting that the CEO of TikTok consulted with Musk on how to navigate Washington in the Second Trump Administration. For the palace intrigue nerds, there was speculation over whether Musk might run afoul of President Elect Donald Trump. There was talk of a potential DOGE podcast with Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. And then there was the chatter over MSNBC.

The MSNBC portion was pure projection on Stelter’s part. What is MSNBC currently, if not a staunchly partisan Regime outlet? They might be oppositional now and during the first Trump administration, and the Bush years, but they played the role of Chief Throne Sniffers during the Obama and Biden administrations. Stelter’s fear of MSNBC being “captured” is really a fear of being captured by someone else.

What if Stelter’s fear is not of “media capture” but of exposition? Recall that the first thing Musk did after buying Twitter was to publish The Twitter Files, which exposed the extent to which Twitter was captured by partisan Democrats and by the intelligence agencies working at the Regime’s behest.

What information might be yielded by “The MSNBC Files” should Musk purchase the ratings-atrophied cable outlet? One imagines the epic email chain that might have led to Joe Scarborough proclaiming “the best version of Joe Biden ever”. The Regime Media’s freakout will only intensify if Musk continues to talk about MSNBC. Perhaps rightfully so.
