Well that didn’t take long.
President-elect Trump has barely announced his selections for various Cabinet posts and the liberal media starts firing journalistic broadsides at them.
Four Trump picks in particular have riled the so-called “mainstream” journos.
The nominee who drew instant wrath was Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, nominated as Attorney General.
Mind you, it is the Biden Department of Justice and Attorney General Merrick Garland that stand accused by Republicans of using the DOJ to weaponize the law and target both President-elect Trump and various members of his first administration. One Gaetz task will surely be to clean up the mess.
Following on the heels of Gaetz as a media target are three others - Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth, Director of National Security nominee Tulsi Gabbard and Department of Health and Human Services nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Hegseth, currently a Fox and Friends Weekend host, is infinitely more than a TV host. He is an Army veteran of longstanding, with service in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, earning two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge. He has written extensively about the problems with a woke Pentagon as he has experienced it personally.
Gaetz is a graduate of William and Mary Law School, belonged to a prestigious Florida law firm, and, as a member of the Florida legislature, served as chairman of the Florida House Criminal Justice Subcommittee. As a member of the U.S. House, Gaetz has been a member of the House Judiciary Committee.
Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democrat Congresswoman from Hawaii who left the Democrats for the GOP, has spent more than two decades in the U.S. Army National Guard. She served on active duty in both Iraq and Kuwait, and in Congress served on the House Homeland Security Committee.
And RFK Jr. is, whether one likes him or not, a longtime activist on health issues.
In short? All four are not only qualified for the jobs to which Trump has nominated them, they would bring the experience of their individual backgrounds to the task of running the departments they have been nominated to head.
But to the liberal media? Not good enough. So the attacks on all four are tumbling forth.
The New York Times, as just one example, headlines:
Trump’s Reckless Choices for National Leadership
In which all of the above are lashed for various alleged failings both governmental and personal.
And make no mistake. The attacks on these four are, in a real sense, merely a distraction from what the liberal media is really all about: destroying the coming Trump presidency.
Which means the media will be hard at work finding the slightest flaw, whether in a Cabinet appointment or a specific policy, that can aid in the task of getting Trump. Indeed, over there at Axios last month was this headline:
Scoop: Some top Dems won't commit to certifying a Trump win
In other words?
In other words, even with the contentious 2024 election blessedly behind the nation, the liberal media will be looking for any way possible to undermine Trump and his administration in the next four years.
Which is to say: As with the attacks on these four of Trump’s first Cabinet appointees, there will be more coming from the anti-Trump media. Much more.
Buckle in.
