When a federal judge attempted to block the Trump administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act, most of the ensuing discussion on the right revolved around Article II powers and judicial overreach. In left-wing media world, however, the coverage is little more than overwrought outrage about the administration’s alleged maltreatment of criminal illegal aliens.

All of the corporate media’s coverage of this ongoing legal battle revolves around the same three talking points:

The Alien Enemies Act is an “old law” (and therefore less valid?)

FDR used it to justify internment camps (therefore it’s a Bad Law™)

The Trump Administration (supposedly) did not grant the deportees sufficient due process.

An astute observer might note that none of those three talking points include anything about the fact that the people deported under this law were criminal illegal aliens with suspected gang ties.

For the millionth time this decade, the news media have made a bunch of illegal aliens the protagonists in a border security story. They do this routinely, because, frankly, they like illegal immigration, and they’re upset when anybody is deported for any reason.
