On Thursday a video circulated X showing more than 100 illegal aliens making an attempt to enter the U.S. by charging a border wall, breaking through razor wire, and overpowering guards in the process.
Earlier that day, The New York Post observed approximately 600 illegal immigrants gathered at the international border, representing a “spring surge” of aliens aiming to enter the U.S.
The Texas National Guard tried to divide them into smaller groups, but tension escalated when guardsmen separated women and children from adult males.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., the “riot” breached concertina wire barriers with the intention of surrendering to U.S. Border Patrol agents for processing. Some of the aliens had been camping on the northern bank of the Rio Grande for up to three days.
Governor Greg Abbott provided a brief update about the incident in El Paso a few hours after video footage of the incident gained millions of views online.
President Joe Biden faced backlash following the viral clip, with top Republican lawmakers blaming his open border policies for the incident.
On Truth Social, former President Trump shared the footage along with the caption “CROOKED JOE BIDEN’S AMERICA…”
“Biden has created this invasion on our southern border,” said Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA). “But walls work — let’s build it and finish it!”
“@POTUS and @SecMayorkas won’t say this is a crisis, they’ll only say it’s a ‘challenge,'” said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI). “No, Mr. President, this is an invasion, and you’re doing nothing to protect America.”
“The Biden Border Crisis is an invasion. Anyone who says differently is lying to you,” wrote Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick snubbed Biden for turning “a blind eye on purpose.”
This chaotic moment captured on camera comes as laws proposed by Abbott and other conservative officials to enact their own immigration regulations, enabling the arrest, detention, and expulsion of suspected illegal immigrants, are still undergoing legal proceedings.
