Christian Dedmon, associated with the “Goon Squad,” has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for his role in the abuse of Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Parker.

This decision was made by U.S. District Judge Tom Lee, marking Dedmon as the fourth member of the group to face sentencing.

During the proceedings, a powerful testimony was heard from Parker, who likened Dedmon to the devil for the terror he brought into his home, a place where he expected safety. Parker recounted the night of January 24, 2023, when he and Jenkins were subjected to horrific abuse.

“That night I saw the devil come to me. I saw the devil in my face, in my home where I was supposed to be safe, where I was supposed to be out of trouble,” Parker said, as reported by WBLT.

“I’m not there because I want to be. I’m there because I’m helping a friend who’s been paralyzed for 20 years,” he added.

Dedmon faced numerous charges, including deprivation of rights under the color of law and conspiracy against rights, highlighted by the brutal and shocking nature of his actions as described by Judge Lee. His involvement in planning the incident and the resultant harm to the victims warranted a sentencing enhancement.

In court, Dedmon admitted to his part in the violence, engaging in a cruel game of “taser hot potato” with Jenkins and Parker. Despite his tearful apology and insistence on not having sexually assaulted another victim during a separate incident, the court remained unswayed.

The broader context of the “Goon Squad” activities brought to light the disturbing culture within the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, with implications that such behavior was not only known but implicitly condoned by higher-ups.
