Dr. Phil McGraw ripped the “experts” who shut down schools during COVID during a recent episode of Primetime. A topic he’s been vocal about in the past.

The Vigilant Fox recapped some of McGraw’s “stunning” remarks on X, adding, “The floodgates are opening” in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic’s dwindling narrative and lack of support for the role certain scientists and government officials played in it.

“You hear people say, ‘Well, we did the best we could with what we knew,’ McGraw said. “No, they did not. They knew better. And if they didn’t know better, they damn well should have known better. That’s what they’re paid to do.”

McGraw then recalled how “all of a sudden, a few weeks turn into months, and months turn into two years.”

“You expect there will be a plan, a readiness plan, that takes into account all the collateral damage that can come from doing something like that,” he continued.

“When you shut down the schools, the day you shut them down, you better have a plan for reopening them. I didn’t see a plan for them to be reopened,” McGraw asserted. “And we have an entire generation that is suffering from developmental gaps, educational gaps, mental and emotional challenges. And still, there’s not a good plan to close those gaps.”

McGraw, in the clip, then leaned into speculations about what could happen if another pandemic were to occur, eventually saying America needs “less government.”

“When the next pandemic turns the corner, who’s got the plan then? What was learned from this?” McGraw asked. “Because you don’t hear anybody talking about it, do you? You don’t hear anybody talking about it.”

“And I’m not some conspiracy theorist. I’m saying we need to think about whether we’re going to rely on science and how we’re going to react when the government comes in and starts telling us what we can and can’t do,” he added. “I think we need less government. I think if they would step back, we tend to have a way to work these things out.”

McGraw has been pushing back in recent months against how the COVID-19 pandemic response impacted schools. He even went on the Joe Rogan Podcast blast phrases like “gender-affirming care,” decrying the practice as “social contagion.”

He strongly criticized the liberal co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” during a heated conversation earlier this year, in another example, asking, “Who takes away the support system for these children? Who takes it away and shuts it down?”

The show’s co-hosts snapped back at McGraw’s statements at certain parts of the exchange. Ana Navarro later asked McGraw: “Are you saying no school children died of COVID?”

“I’m saying it was the safest group,” McGraw responded. “They were the less vulnerable group, and they suffered and will suffer more from the mismanagement of COVID than they will from the exposure to COVID, and that’s not an opinion, that’s a fact.”
