Palestinian authorities have uncovered a mass grave containing nearly 200 bodies at the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza’s Khan Younis, Al Jazeera reported.

This grave, discovered by Palestinian civil defense teams, contained the bodies of elderly women, children, and young men, highlighting the grim toll of the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza.

“In the hospital courtyard, civil defense members and paramedics have retrieved 180 bodies buried in this mass grave by the Israeli military,” Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reported from Khan Younis.

The discovery follows the Israeli military’s withdrawal from the area earlier in April, after which the extent of the devastation became apparent. Khan Younis has been left in ruins after months of relentless bombardment. Palestinian emergency services issued a statement concerning their ongoing efforts:

“Our teams continue their search and retrieval operations for the remaining martyrs in the coming days as there are still a significant number of them,” they told Al Jazeera.

This incident is part of a broader conflict that has ravaged Gaza, resulting in over 34,000 Palestinian deaths, with a significant proportion being women and children, as per local health officials’ reports.
