A dramatic scene unfolded at the intersection of New York's Eighth Avenue and 42nd Street as water gushed from the side of a Manhattan high-rise.
The FDNY received a call about the incident around 12:15 p.m., with video evidence showing an intense flow of water that resembled a geyser. Despite the spectacle, there were no injuries reported immediately. The impact on those on the ground remained unclear at the time.
“The water had stopped flowing by the time News 4 cameras got to the scene around 12:30 p.m.,” according to reports from the scene.
Despite the flashy and attention-grabbing spectacle of the outburst, a cause has not yet been established for the building's sudden episode of incontinence.
The Department of Buildings confirmed it was not called to the location, and an investigation into the cause of the leak is currently underway. The situation was contained quickly, with no further disruptions reported following the cessation of the water flow.
This is a developing story and will be updated periodically.
