The United States is missing a “historic opportunity” to neutralize Iran's nuclear capabilities as the nation escalates its aggression towards Israel, Rudy Giuliani told on Newsmax following Iran's drone and missile attack on Israel.

This assault was in retaliation for an earlier strike in Damascus, which resulted in the deaths of 16 people.

“Every time I was mayor and I had to make a difficult decision, I would say What would Ronald Reagan do?” Giuliani said in the Newsmax interview published on Sunday. “I know what Ronald Reagan would do right now. He would have hit Iran before their first missile got to Israel, and he would have taken out every nuclear facility he could because he would have been trying to look for an opportunity to do that for years.”

However, Giuliani criticized current leadership, stating, “the traitors who run our government” are overly concerned about Iran's potential to reconstruct its nuclear sites.

“Well, that will take them 10 years to do it,” said Giuliani. “And if you really know what's going on inside Iran, if we were to hit them before they hit us, it would destroy them.”

He described Saturday's attack on Israel as a demonstration of Iran being a “frightened enemy.” “You wouldn't do an attack like this unless you were timid,” said Giuliani.

“The best thing to do with a frightened enemy is knock him out. The best defense is a bold offense. This is our opportunity to end the reign of terror.”

Giuliani also voiced dissatisfaction with President Joe Biden's response, remarking, “But President Joe Biden, he said, 'is hiding somewhere. It's intolerable that we have a president that cannot address the nation at a time like this.'”

Concerning the military effectiveness of Iran, Giuliani questioned, “What kind of military would take two hours to announce and launch an attack?” he said.

“You call that bold? That's a military that wants to do an attack so we can tell what people that we did an attack but is afraid to engage.”

He further pointed out a purported tactical failure in allowing the missiles to travel over Iraq without interception.

“They all had to go over Iraq,” he said. “We have a hell of a lot of facilities in Iraq. None should have even gotten to Israel.”

Elements of the punditry have called on the United States to use these conflicts as an opportunity to flex American military muscle over the Islamic Republic, with some commentators using even more bellicose rhetoric than Giuliani in calling for a military response.

“If America was still a real country, we would wipe it Iran off the map,” retired colonel and TownHall columnist Kurt Schlichter said in a post on X.

“If America was still led by men, Iran would be a smoking crater,” Schlichter added in another post.
