An epidemic of violence is raging through New York, with men indiscriminately punching women walking down the street for no apparent reason.

The outlet Salon, however, made a point to cast blame towards Trump supporters. Dubbing the violence “a desperate last gasp of the male rage fueling MAGA.”

As users on X pointed out, this finger pointing rings a similar tune to the Jessie Smollet hate crime hoax from 2021. Where the disgraced “Empire” actor notably claimed he was assaulted by two Trump supporters in a Chicago subway who screamed “This is MAGA country!”

They also swooped in to quickly blast the outlet over its outlandish claims.

“Is Salon trying to compete with the @TheBabylonBee? Is this satire?” wrote George Sarantopoulous.

The Salon article made odd statements about how men are “indignant” when the “eyes of a woman are directed at someone or something that is not him.” 

It then goes on to explain that the uptick in “increasingly unhinged male fury at women” stems from “Donald Trump and the MAGA movement” because “there’s an upswell of loud male entitlement shouting at us from every corner.”

“The rise of MAGA is fueled by misogyny,” it adds.

Nevermind if criminals in New York are now being released on bail, particularly if they are considered to be from “oppressed” minorities. Salon attributes the breakdown of the justice system in Democrat-controlled NYC to Republican voters.

Other users joined in on Monday to torch Salon over its bizarre leap to blame Trumpers for the seemingly random punches. 

“Not only is the one of the worst written articles that I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across, you know that the entire premise is a complete and total fabrication,” Jeff Carlson shared. “And you decided to run it anyway. Because, ‘narratives.’”

“Gleefully awaiting your imminent bankruptcy,” he added.

“They seriously went with ‘This is MAGA country!’” Auron MacIntyre said. “Amazing.”

“Woke cope has been turned up to 11,” one user said.

“All these men were shouting ‘This is MAGA country!’ in their hearts,” lamented another user.

Business Insider reports that multiple women in NYC have taken to TikTok to share videos recounting incidents of being randomly punched in public. And the NYPD has confirmed some of these incidents to the outlet.

“I was literally just walking and a man came up and punched me in the face,” a tearful 23-year-old TikToker named Halley Kate said in a now-viral video. “Oh my god, it hurts so bad, I can’t even talk.”  

Kate had been punched in the face while walking down the street, and can be seen with a large lump on her forehead in her March 25 video.

CBS News reported that a man charged with punching Kate in the face has appeared in court for a separate case.
