Aimee Harris, who admitted to stealing a diary belonging to Ashley Biden ahead of the 2020 election and subsequently selling it to Project Veritas, stood before a federal judge in Manhattan for sentencing on Tuesday.

Harris received a one-month jail term, three months of home detention, and three years of probation, NBC News reports. The sentencing was presided over by Judge Laura Taylor Swain, who didn't mince words in describing Harris's actions as “despicable.”

Robert Kurlander, Harris' co-conspirator, is set to learn his fate on April 12.

Harris pleaded guilty to one charge of conspiracy each in August 2022, conceding that she received $20,000 of the $40,000 paid by Project Veritas for personal items belonging to Ashley Biden.

RTM reported on Thursday that the Justice Department called for a prison sentence of four to ten months for Harris because she attempted to delay her sentencing 12 times. Actions prosecutors deemed as attempts to “improperly delay” her punishment, thus warranting a more severe sentence.

Harris tearfully expressed regret for her role in selling Ashley Biden's private writings in an emotional moment during the sentencing.

She recounted finding the diary and other items at a friend's residence in Delray Beach, Florida, in 2020.

Prosecutors revealed that Ashley Biden believed her belongings were safely stored there after she temporarily stayed at the residence in spring 2020.

“I do not believe I am above the law,” Harris said, addressing the court after a prosecutor urged for a prison sentence due to her repeated failures to appear at previous sentencing dates.

Harris cited her responsibility to care for her two children, ages 8 and 6, as a reason for her absence. She also revealed her status as a survivor of long-term domestic abuse and sexual trauma.

Harris offered a direct apology to the president's daughter, expressing remorse for making her personal life public. Swain, in delivering the sentence, highlighted the greed behind Harris's actions and noted her attempt, along with her co-defendant Kurlander, to sell Ashley Biden's belongings to then-President Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign.

Harris was ordered to report to prison in July. As she left the courthouse, she declined to speak.

Ashley Biden's lawyer also refrained from commenting, though he submitted a letter to the judge on his client's behalf a day earlier, which was not immediately included in the court record.

James O'Keefe, the ousted founder of Project Veritas, claimed that the diary had been discovered abandoned in a room where Ashley Biden had stayed, and its contents allegedly contained explosive allegations against then-candidate Joe Biden. However, none of the contents were verified or published by O'Keefe or his investigative team.
