Many areas in Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province were under 0.5-1 meter of water on Sunday following prolonged downpours lasting from early morning until noon.

Da Nang Street in northern Hai Phong City became inundated after rainfall persisted from 3 a.m. to 12 p.m., significantly impeding commuting.

The port city had seen a rainfall intensity of 250 mm per hour that morning, according to the Hai Phong Sewerage & Drainage Company.

Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and many northern provinces have been experiencing heavy rainfall in the last several days due to the influence of a low-pressure trough passing through the region.

Weather forecasters predict that the downpour will persist until Monday with rainfall of 30-80 mm on average and over 150 mm in some areas.
