The Israeli military says it is in urgent need of thousands of more forces, as the regime is facing increasing challenges almost nine months into its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

Minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant said in a statement on Monday that the military "needs 10,000 more soldiers immediately."

Gallant said the military can recruit 4,800 soldiers from ultra-Orthodox men.

Last week, Israel's Supreme Court unanimously ruled that ultra-Orthodox Jews must be subject to the military draft, after decades of being exempted from military service.

Israel's chief rabbi had earlier warned that ultra-Orthodox Jews will leave the occupied territories en masse if Tel Aviv forces them to join the military.

Israel launched a military offensive in the Gaza Strip after it was caught off guard by Hamas's unprecedented operation against the occupied territories in October 2023.

So far, the Israeli military has killed nearly 38,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

The regime's head Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to "completely destroy" the Palestinian residence movement before the military agrees to end its offensive in Gaza.

He is under mounting pressure to end the genocidal war both globally and at home with protesters on the streets in large numbers calling for his resignation.
