The Kenner Police Department announced that it has arrested an undocumented Honduran individual suspected of rape and assault of a minor.

The department's Facebook post also alleges that the individual, who was suspected of the rape, was arrested after perpetrating an armed robbery and stabbing the victim.

"He was arrested for Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, First-Degree Rape and Aggravated Assault. A Federal I.C.E. detainer was issued for Angel Matias Castellanos-Orellana as well. The arrest came as a result of two separate investigations. Last week, Kenner detectives developed Castellanos-Orellana as a suspect in the First-Degree Rape and Aggravated Assault case of a 14-year-old girl," the post noted.

NOLA.com reported that the girl met the man on social media and the two met in early February, police indicated. The man is accused of attacking the victim, placing a knife at her throat, and committing rape, the outlet reported.

"Detectives applied for and executed arrest warrants and were working with federal authorities. On Feb. 25 Castellanos-Orellana was arrested after he committed an armed robbery and stabbed the victim in the 2600 block of Phoenix Street. He was taken into custody on scene and booked accordingly. The victim of the armed robbery and aggravated battery is in stable condition at an area hospital," the department noted.

"Illegal immigrants continue to be a challenge to local law enforcement for many reasons. Lack of access to data, false identification and language barriers put local law enforcement at a huge disadvantage. We cannot verify if an illegal alien is giving correct information as it pertains to names and date of births. It is not only a drain on police manpower, but a financial drain on local law enforcement’s budgets and taxpayer’s money. In a 25-day period, this illegal alien caused terror in our community. We are glad he is off our streets, but will he be back? Will he have a new identity? What other crimes has he committed since he crossed our borders," Kenner Police Department Chief Keith Conley noted, according to the post.
