A night of carousing in Tennessee appears to have landed the son of a Mississippi congressman in hot water.

Just after 11 p.m. last Friday night, Officer Cody Bergquist was out patrolling Broadway, a street in downtown Nashville with lots of popular bars, restaurants, and other nightlife attractions. As Bergquist was standing outside Jason Aldean's Kitchen and Rooftop Bar, a "clear plastic cup full of ice" suddenly fell from above and struck him in the left foot, WKRN reported, citing the affidavit.

Bergquist then met with the bar's security guards to see who may have dropped the cup of ice over the edge of the rooftop. After reviewing security footage and consulting with multiple witnesses, Bergquist and the security team determined that the cup drop had been "intentional" and that Michael "Patton" Guest, the 20-year-old son of Rep. Michael Guest (R-Miss.), was the culprit.

When officers approached Guest at the establishment, he allegedly had an alcoholic beverage in each hand even though he is not yet 21 years old. How he may have acquired the beverages is unclear.

Authorities then questioned him about the incident. He initially denied dropping the cup of ice but later reportedly copped to it as well as to underage drinking.

The seemingly thoughtless prank has been met with some serious consequences. Guest has been charged with assaulting a police officer as well as disorderly conduct and consumption of alcohol under the age of 21. He has since bonded out of custody on $2,500.

Guest's father, Rep. Guest, is in his third term serving the 3rd Congressional District of Mississippi. He is also a member of the Law Enforcement Caucus and the chairman of the House Ethics Committee. Like all members of the House, except for those retiring from office, Rep. Guest is up for re-election this November.

Rep. Guest's office did not respond to Blaze News' request for comment.
