Iranian oil tankers are reportedly fleeing from the island where nearly all of Iran’s oil exports pass through amid fears that it will become a target for Israel as the country seeks to make the Islamic regime pay for its missile attack earlier this week.
TankerTrackers, an independent service that tracks and reports shipments of crude oil, said that the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) appeared to be fearing an imminent attack.
“Their empty VLCC supertankers vacated the country’s largest oil terminal, Kharg Island, yesterday,” the organization said. “Please note that crude oil loadings continue, but all of the extra vacant shipping capacity has been removed from the anchorage of Kharg Island.”
The overwhelming majority of Iran’s oil exports are sent through terminals at Kharg Island, often referred to as “oil island.”
Targeting the island would have “the most disruptive effect, with some 90% of Iran’s global exports passing through those terminals,” said Gerard Filitti, senior counsel at the Lawfare Project.

They said that this is the first time they’ve seen action like this since 2018 when former President Donald Trump crippled the economy of the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism with devastating sanctions.

Iran’s terrorist proxy groups have released threats this week, apparently aimed at the Gulf States, amid speculation that Iran’s oil facilities will soon be hit.
“Either everyone enjoys [the oil] or everyone is deprived,” said Iraq’s Kata’ib Hezbollah.
The Arab Gulf States have tried to assure Iran this week that they want to remain neutral in the conflict between Iran and Israel, hoping that staying out of it will save them from Iranian-backed terror attacks should Israel wipe out Iran’s oil facilities.
