Actress Rosie O’Donnell shared a video on Saturday — just 24 hours before President Joe Biden announced his exit from the 2024 presidential race — in which she predicted that Americans would “know if we still have democracy” by Thanksgiving break.

In a video just titled “Saturday Ramble,” O’Donnell shared her thoughts on the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris — which she was excited to watch — and her concerns about the upcoming presidential election.

“The whole thing is very, very unnerving. It’s very unnerving,” O’Donnell began, noting that her therapist had attempted to calm her by pointing out that 100 days is a long time, and that many things could change.

“My therapist actually told me it’s a long time between now and November — no it isn’t, we’re about to start school again,” O’Donnell said. She went on to say that once school started, Halloween was right around the corner and then Thanksgiving break. “So by Thanksgiving break, we’re gonna know if we still have democracy in the United States.”

Critics were not impressed with O’Donnell’s take, and said so via X.

“‘Democracy’ isn’t the people you like winning. ‘Democracy’ is when the people being governed get to vote in free elections to choose their leaders and determine their future. Democracy includes results where you lose,” one said.

“If the election doesn’t turn out the way I want it – if other people’s votes count – then democracy is dead. Democracy for me, but not for thee, according to Rosie,” Ari Fleischer added. “This ‘democracy’ talk is such nonsense from people who say it’s my way or the highway. I guess she’s a denier.”
