Reacting to the news that President Joe Biden would be dropping out of the 2024 presidential election, former President Donald Trump said that his rival had wanted to bow out ever since his disastrous debate performance last month.

Biden announced on Sunday that he would no longer be seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, saying that he would be endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. The announcement comes after weeks of pressure on Biden after he struggled during a debate against Trump on June 27. Earlier this week, Biden announced he had COVID and would not be going out on the campaign trail for a few days.

“Does anybody really believe that Crooked Joe had Covid? No, he wanted to get out ever since June 27th, the night of The Debate, where he was completely obliterated,” Trump posted on Sunday afternoon. “That was the big moment in Joe Biden’s demise. That was the point in time when Joe was revealed for what he is, an incompetent man who should never have been President. Joe Biden is not fit to serve – He is destroying our Country!”

During the debate, Biden frequently mumbled and lost track of what he was talking about. In the weeks following the debate, a growing list of lawmakers and Democratic strategists called for Biden to step aside as the legacy media started asking questions about the 81-year-old president’s mental and physical health.

“I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden said on Sunday.

Trump, who has repeatedly said he could best any candidate put up by the Democrats, first reacted to the news by saying that Biden was the worst president in American history.

“He has done everything possible to destroy our Country, from our Southern Border, to Energy Dominance, National Security, International Standing, and so much more,” he said. “He was annihilated in an Earth Shattering Debate, and now the Corrupt and Radical Democrats are throwing him overboard. He was not fit to serve from the very beginning, but the people around him lied to America about his Complete and Total Mental, Physical, and Cognitive Demise. Whoever the Left puts up now will just be more of the same.”
