Former President Donald Trump blasted George Clooney on Wednesday after the actor called on President Joe Biden to end his presidential campaign in a New York Times op-ed.

Clooney, who hosted a Hollywood fundraiser for Biden just last month, wrote in the Times that he “love[s] Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as a president,” but added that “We are not going to win in November with this president.” Trump responded to Clooney’s flip on Biden, calling both of them “rats.”

“So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act. He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“What does Clooney know about anything? He uses the Democrat ‘talking point’ that Biden, the WORST President in the history of the United States, has ‘saved our Democracy.’ No, Crooked Joe was the one who WEAPONIZED Law Enforcement against his political Opponent, who created the most devastating INFLATION in the history of our Country, who Embarrassed our Nation in Afghanistan, and whose crazy Open Border Policy has allowed millions of people to illegally pour into our Country, many from prisons and mental institutions,” Trump added. “Crooked Joe Biden didn’t save our Democracy, he brought our Democracy to its knees. Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!”

Clooney joined a chorus of people on the Left who are calling on Biden to step aside and let another candidate run against Trump. That list includes a mounting number of Democratic lawmakers.

“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” Clooney added in his opinion piece.

Biden has doubled down on his intentions to remain the Democrats’ presidential nominee as the party’s convention nears.

“The voters of the Democratic Party have voted. They have chosen me to be the nominee of the party,” Biden wrote in a letter sent to Congressional Democrats earlier this week. “Do we now just say this process didn’t matter? That the voters don’t have a say?”

“I decline to do that. I feel a deep obligation to the faith and the trust the voters of the Democratic Party have placed in me to run this year,” Biden added. “It was their decision to make.”

However, poll results from The Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos published on Wednesday showed that a majority of Democrats and more than 70% of independents think Biden should drop out of the race.
